Multiliquid Launches Tokenized Treasury Product With 24/7 Redemptions, but Liquidity Claims Remain Unverified

Multiliquid says it has launched a cash-management product offering an indicative APY of up to 3.5%, linked to 3-month U.S. Treasury Bills, with 24/7 redemptions. The company says the product is live on Ethereum and Solana, but its liquidity capacity and operating claims have not been independently verified.

  • Underlying holdings: two tokenized government money-market funds.
  • Withdrawal support: a claimed 5-10% liquidity buffer and institutional repo lines.
  • Instant redemptions are available only under normal market conditions.
  • Fees, allocation weights, and procedures during market stress remain unclear.

What Multiliquid Treasury is designed to do

Multiliquid Treasury is aimed at corporate treasuries, fintechs, asset managers, and eligible accredited and institutional investors. Multiliquid says it is live on Ethereum Mainnet and Solana, and available through its web application, API, SDK, and smart contracts. Its stated availability has not been independently confirmed.

The product targets a practical cash-management problem: access to redemptions can depend on the fund, bank, and service provider involved, as well as their operating hours and cut-off times. Multiliquid says on-chain transfers can make yield-linked balances easier to access outside conventional business hours, including weekends and holidays.

The company describes the return as an indicative APY of up to 3.5%, indexed by formula to the 3-month U.S. Treasury Bill rate. It has not published the formula, a current rate calculation, or a fee schedule. Treasury-bill yields and APY are not interchangeable measures, so the headline figure does not show what a user would actually earn. “Up to” is not a guaranteed rate, and it is unclear whether the figure is gross or net of fees.

Fund holdings, an SPV, and liquidity support

Multiliquid says depositors lend to Uniform Treasury SPV, LLC, a Delaware special-purpose vehicle (SPV) that the company describes as bankruptcy-remote. The SPV is said to allocate funds across WisdomTree Government Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX) and Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund (JTRSY). The announcement does not say how funds are split between the two or whether those allocations may change.

This structure does not necessarily mean each depositor directly owns shares in either fund. The release describes depositors as lenders to the SPV, but the offering, account, and loan agreements are needed to establish each depositor’s precise legal claim, which assets support it, and how claims would be handled if the SPV or an intermediary became insolvent. “Bankruptcy-remote” describes an intended legal structure. It is not a blanket guarantee against loss.

To support withdrawals, Multiliquid says it relies on a 5-10% liquidity buffer and institutional repurchase-agreement, or repo, lines. A repo is a form of short-term financing, typically backed by securities. The company has not said what the buffer is 5-10% of, where it is held, or whether it is immediately available on-chain. It also has not named repo providers or disclosed the lines’ capacity, terms, or conditions.

Those details matter because the buffer and repo financing underpin the promise of fast withdrawals. A stated buffer does not prove that redemption capacity is unlimited. And financing available under ordinary conditions may not be available on the same terms during market stress.

On-chain settlement is not the same as instant fund liquidation

Multiliquid advertises 24/7 redemptions and “single-block atomic settlement.” An atomic transaction is designed to complete as one all-or-nothing operation. On-chain, it can coordinate a transfer so that its parts either settle together or fail together.

But an on-chain transaction settling in a block does not show that the underlying fund assets were liquidated at the same time. A redemption may depend on the SPV’s available liquidity, repo financing, and the funds’ own redemption processes. Multiliquid says its buffer supports instant redemptions under normal market conditions, but has not explained what happens if withdrawal demand exceeds the available buffer and financing.

Eligibility, ratings, and audits

Multiliquid says the product is available to U.S. and international accredited and institutional investors, subject to KYC and KYB checks, which verify the identities of individuals and businesses, as well as accredited-investor verification. The company lists no deposit minimum and says onboarding typically takes under 24 hours. That does not mean every business or applicant is eligible.

The release lists “AAAf / S1+” ratings for the underlying funds but does not name the rating agency, give the rating date, or identify the fund share class covered. Without that information, readers cannot assess what the ratings represent. Ratings are assessments, not guarantees of performance or liquidity.

Multiliquid also says Cantina and Zellic audited the core settlement contracts. The release does not provide the audit reports, dates, scope, findings, or remediation status. A smart-contract audit can assess code within its scope. It cannot establish the SPV’s legal protections, verify fund holdings or repo capacity, or guarantee that withdrawals will be met.

The product features and performance claims appear in company-supplied promotional material distributed through PRNewswire, with “Uniform Labs” listed as the source. The available details do not independently verify that the product is live or support its claims about reserve verification and redemption capacity.

Key questions about Multiliquid Treasury

  • Is the advertised APY of up to 3.5% guaranteed?

No. Multiliquid calls it indicative and links it to 3-month Treasury Bill yields, but has not published the calculation method or fees.

  • Are all redemptions guaranteed to be instant?

No. The company says instant redemptions are supported under normal market conditions, but has not explained how it would handle heavy outflows or market stress.

  • What supports withdrawals?

Multiliquid names a 5-10% liquidity buffer, repo lines, and allocations to WTGXX and JTRSY. It has not disclosed how the buffer is calculated, who the repo counterparties are, or how much financing is available.

  • Who can use the product?

The company says eligible U.S. and international accredited and institutional investors can apply, subject to verification. It lists no deposit minimum, but eligibility requirements still apply.

  • Do tokenization and audits remove the main risks?

No. They do not eliminate fund, legal, counterparty, custody, or liquidity risks. The audit reports and legal documents are needed to assess important parts of the structure.

The real test is redemption under pressure

Tokenized cash products could make some institutional balances easier to transfer outside conventional banking hours. But a blockchain can settle only the transactions that the underlying assets, financing, and legal arrangements can support.

Before treating Multiliquid Treasury as readily available operating cash, prospective users need to understand the net yield after fees, the SPV’s legal obligations, the fund allocations, and the buffer and repo arrangements. The decisive test is whether users can redeem when outflows are heavy or markets are stressed, not simply whether an on-chain transaction can settle in a block.
